I am known around the blogosphere as Antique Mommy. Before I became a mommy in my mid-40s, and later a blogger, I did interior design work. I worked with several builders who build high-end spec homes and my job was to make the 52,000 design decisions from the roofing materials to the hardware.
While I love being a mommy, I also love design and I have missed being part of a team that takes a vacant patch of land and brings the architect’s blueprints to life.
A home is really a stage of sorts, a backdrop where our lives play out in all its agony and glory. And no matter how humble or grand, shouldn’t a space as important as that be an inspired space?
If you have a design question, send it to am@antiquemommy.com and I’ll try to address it here.
Other things about me you should know:
I live in Texas where everything you’ve ever heard about it is true. I have a cute little boy who is endlessly amusing. He takes my breath away. I love design and art. And cooking. I am mostly not serious. I graduated from college with a 3.96 GPA in art and theater. Not because I’m smart, but because I’m persistent and can write a term paper like nobody’s business. I once had dinner with Ralph Nader and sat on Chet Atkins lap. But not in the same night. I love to write about my crazy life at www.antiquemommy.com
